It was interesting to live on a boat.
1. I did expect the room as I had seen pictures but on arrival, I found it dark, musty and depressing. 2. The owner gave many rules, it was as though I am living at a school hostel and she was the principal! Eg. No taking a shower past 11pm, bring your plates to the kitchen after breakfast etc. She rattled on a list of rules upon arrival, it felt suffocating. Then she grumbled about having to wipe the tables and clean the bathroom (there was vomit and she asked if I did it). 3. The bathrooms are really small. You cant really stand.upright. Be prepared.
Price and location near amsterdam centraal station
breakfastn time that started late
Friendly staff Location close to Central station Breakfast had variety
Room too small Noisy at night
The Vita Nova is very good at providing all the essentials – I found it very clean and the staff extremely friendly. The breakfast had a good selection of cold meats, cheese and cereals. The cabins are very compact and adequate for sleeping only. If you want more space to lounge around there is plenty of room on the main deck and there is a very spacious open upper deck. If you regard a room as just somewhere to sleep, then it’s perfect. If you need TVs, tea makers, luxury and pampering then it’s probably not for you. In my opinion the Vita Nova exceeded expectations.
A boathotel with minimum facilities, but the location on the water is very attractive, as well as the price and a decent breakfast on deck with an excellent view. The hotel is recommended to those who don't mind minor inconveniences but like unusual locations.
Very noisy at night as many guests come late. Very hot in the room (I could't manage the heating). No window in the tiny room.
Good location, 1 km from central train station. Warm room, good price, nice breakfast. It was so warm that all our clothes dried over the night and they were really wet from the rain
Our room was way to small for two people, my bead was nearly under the celling and to not feel like in the coffin I had to move my macerate on the floor and sleep with red hot heater on top of my head and sink pipes on my feet. At first wen you enter you want to get back out its so claustrophobic but I guess after long day of walking around Amsterdam we stop care, we were just to tired.
The breakfast at Vita Nova was really good and the rooms are great value for money. It costs around the same as the hostels in Amsterdam but allows for more privacy and also a little more space than the average hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful and had good suggestions for what to do in Amsterdam.
The showers were almost overflowing in the morning.
location, the boat, breakfast, the people
You can hear too much noise late evening when other guests return at night
Make sure you bring cash to pay for your lodging. Rooms are small, but big enough to sleep in. Wifi is only accessible in the common area and between 830 and 2200. Breakfast starts at 0830, so buy something the night before if you have an early ride to catch.
Cheap. Friendly staff. Central Location.
The rooms are extremely small! Cannot take showers after 23:00 which comes to you as a surprise because no one mentioned that earlier. Breakfast is very simple.
ThisBoathostel is great,Roy the captain is realy nice and hulpful. The location is very central. The admosphere on the boat is so nice, the bteakfast is good and there is plenty of it.thanks
If you want a big room then look elsewhere because the rooms are small with bunk-bed.But if you are okay with that, then you will not find a better hostel.Definitely recommend
I liked its location though is a bit difficult to find on my first day. And yes, the breakfast was simple and good with cheese, bread and cereal.
Difficult to take a shower as the volume of water coming out of the shower head is very small. And the toilet window (yes, there is window and is covered by curtain only) is spoiled, which caused the toilet to be freezing cold.
Close to the rail & Morning on the river is nice
Too noisy! No hot water after 11 pm! Facilities are poor! The room is too small to live in! Have to check out before 11, not 12!
Very good location, good breakfast.
The room was very small with a tiny window and narrow beds. Not recommended for comfort or for couples.
Very small cabin, difficult to keep the temperature comfortable? very basic facilities.
